Reading Notes

Our class meeting will be devoted to two objectives: (Details below)

1) Discussing the essay by Karen King, our final scheduled reading.

2) Mini-rehearsal, or 'the 5-minute pitch': Each interest group will 'pitch' an abbreviated format of their session to our class. (Proposal due at start of class.)

  • Details:(following soon...)

    • 1) King's essay "The History of Christianity" comes at the close of our formal reading schedule. Fittingly, she draws our attention to many of the readings and milestones we visited across this course. Yet, she does not provide a simple summary of where we have been, but rather a provocative charge to our perception, imagination, education, and Early Christian writing and history: 'How aware are you of what you are are learning?' She seems to ask.

    • 2) Each group 'pitches' their proposed session in a 5-minute abreviated format to our class.  We will offer immediate constructive feedback (on what we are presented). This process has in the past proved very helpful to each group. Depending on the extent of your 'pitch', it can serve as a mini-rehearsal, and serve to clarify your objectives and delivery.

Group Proposals are due at the start of class:

Follow the proposal format to ensure you are developing your time and objectives well.

Good luck! We are looking forward to hearing them.
