Focus:
1)
Move further into Matthew, pay attention to the events,
symbolism, and section changes in the gospel. Review from
Ehrman and the 'under the text' commentary in Matthew to
'see' the connections with key persons from the Old
Testament (Hebrew Bible).
2)
We will focus today on Chapters 4-8, especially the
"Sermon on the Mount" and
"Beatitudes": Connect between this section and
Paul's apocolyptic beliefs [see Ehrman in chapters on
Matthew, and on Paul (Man and Mission; and Romans) from
two-weeks ago. All in the course reader.)
