Please obtain the Course Reader from Rose Hill Bookstore

It will be there from noon on Wednesday, Feb 6.

1) Reading for Thursday, Feb. 07, 2008

Reading focus:

a) The reading is on the Gospel of Matthew. We are spending this class and the next class on Matthew.

b) However, as we just opened up Mark in the last class, Feb 4, we will continue with Mark to assess key themes, what the gospel could intend to convey, and discern what is characteristic about Mark. And then move into Matthew.

c) For Thursday's class (Feb. 7), we shall look at the structure of Matthew, its beginning (how the text opens builds from the opening lines), and compare some of what we see with the Gospel of Mark.

We will begin also with our first in-class writing exercise.
