Soviet/Russian
Missiles
Almost all Soviet space launch vehicles were derived from
military ballistic missiles. Therefore, it's probably
useful to have some sense of the original missiles which
gave birth to the rockets of the Soviet and Russian space
program. In the near future, I'll be adding information
from all major Soviet/Russian ballistic missiles, including
their histories, technical characteristics, and space
launcher derivatives.
A good place to start for very basic data is a
Master List of
Surface-to-Surface Missiles
which tries to do the following:
1) make sense of the many confusing designation systems for
Soviet/Russian surface-to-surface missiles
2) provide the basic technical characteristics for these
missiles
3) provide some of the key dates in their development.
Many unflown and abandoned missiles are also given here.
In terms of actual missile systems, I've written up
detailed histories of the following:

Burya and Buran
intercontinental cruise missiles from the 1950s
